Flu Vaccination - Booking Procedure for 2020/21

Flu vaccination appointments are available to book online now via the NHS app and patient access, for eligible patients only.  Please see further details below.

This year St Andrews Medical practice are offering online bookable appointments for flu vaccination. You will require the NHS app or Patient Access to do this. Please check the online access section of our website for further information. If you are unable to use either of these services, please do not worry, appointments can also be pre-booked by calling the practice.

Flu vaccination is not available for everyone on the NHS, please see further information below.

Who should get the flu vaccine?

The flu vaccine is routinely given on the NHS to:

  • adults 65 and over
  • people with certain medical conditions (including children in at-risk groups from 6 months of age)
  • pregnant women
  • children aged 2 and 3 on 31 August 2020 (born between 1st September 2016 and 31 August 2018)
  • children in primary school
  • children in the first year of secondary school (year 7)
  • frontline health or social care workers
  • 50 - 64 year olds

Please note that people in the 50-64-year old age group will not be vaccinated until November and December, providing there is sufficient vaccine and no appointments will be offered for this age group until then. This is to ensure that those who are most at risk are vaccinated first. If you are 50-64 and you are in one of the other groups which are eligible for the flu vaccination, for example, you have a health condition which puts you at risk from the flu, you will be invited earlier.
