Get the NHS App







St Andrews encourages to use the new NHS app on your smartphone or tablet. You can activate this yourself and do not need contact the practice. 


You must now request repeat prescriptions via this method (or patient access if you already have it).

You will be required to verify your account by uploading a picture of your identification and recording a short video.

You can use the NHS App to:

  • view test results and your medical record
  • book appointments
  • order repeat prescriptions
  • check your symptoms

If you already use patient access you can continue to use it. You can use the NHS App as well.

The NHS App does not allow proxy access- the ability for others to have secure access to a health record. For example, parents wanting access for young children. For this please use "Patient Access" below.


Patient Access


To register for Patient Access you must provide Photo ID


Patient access offers the same functions as the app, but to activate it, you need to attend the practice with photo ID. The advantage of patient access is that it can be used for proxy use. For example, parents who would like to access the health record of children under 16. The NHS app does not allow this function as yet.


Patient access allows you to:


  • View and request repeat medication
  • View, book and cancel appointments
  • View information from your care record (medications, immunisations and allergies)


To create your Patient Access account, bring a photo ID, such as a driving license or passport, to the surgery and ask for a Patient Access registration letter. Then follow these easy steps:


1  On your computer, go to https://www.patientaccess.com/

2  On the sign-in screen, select Register now

3  Enter your personal details. Note:the gender field is optional.

4  Enter the account details on your registration letter. Note:the Mobile phone and 
     Marketing fields are optional.

5  Click Create account.

6  Your account has been created. 

7  Now select Link your GP Practice.

  • EnterN20 9EX 
  • Select St Andrew’s Medical Practicefrom the list. 
  • Select Continue. 
  • Below the question ‘Have you received a registration letter from your practice?’, select Yes. 
  • Enter the Linkage keystated on your registration letter. 
  • Enter the Account IDstated on your registration letter. 
  • Select Confirm. 
  • Check your personal details and enter your house, flat or street number, then select Continue. The personal details must match the details held by the Practice. 
  • Enter your password, then select Link Account. 
On the confirmation screen, select Done.


It is your responsibility to ensure that your Pateient access details are not used by anyone else.  If you lose your log-in details you can request a user ID reminder and/or password reset from the Patient Access website.  The Practice does not have access to your password,


We will be monitoring the use of this service. If we find that a user is abusing the service, we will issue a warning letter.  Where the situation does not improve, access will be removed. Examples of inappropriate use are:

  • Booking appointments and not turning up for them
  • Booking appointments for other family members using your name
  • Consistently booking inappropriate appointments with the doctor


The message box in the prescriptions section should only be used for comments relating to your prescription.
