For patient safety and in line with national guidance, please be advised that first prescriptions requested by NHS or private specialists should be written by the specialist and obtained from the Hospital Pharmacy, or in the case of a private prescription, directly from any Community Pharmacist.

We are unable to rewrite these prescriptions. Furthermore, it is the specialist’s responsibility to provide the first 28 day supply.

If the medication prescribed by your specialist is required on a long term basis, we will be able to issues subsequent prescriptions providing the following:

  1. The medication is licensed and suitable for prescription by a General Practitioner.

  2. The medication is listed on the Barnet NHS formulary.

  3. A letter from your consultant detailing the rational for the medication and dosage schedule has been received by the Practice.
